Which, inconveniently, is already somewhat dependent on you.

This is still an experiment finding its legs. If it works, there may eventually be a lot to build, operate, study, question, fund, explain, and occasionally rescue from its own enthusiasm.

So if some small part of you is thinking, “I’d like to be around if this becomes real,” tell us.

You do not need to fit a job description.

Five ways to say hello. None of them job descriptions.

    Believer

    “I like this idea and would prefer that it continue existing.”

    Maybe you have no particular role in mind. Maybe Dunbarrios simply describes something you have also felt was missing.

    That is enough to start a conversation.

    Requirements

    • unnecessary enthusiasm
    • tolerance for unfinished things
    • willingness to tell us when something sounds profound but is actually nonsense
    • ability to explain Dunbarrios to one other human without saying “multi-level governance architecture”

  2. 02

    Cheerleader / Amplifier

    “This deserves a little more oxygen.”

    Perhaps you understand communities, writing, design, events, media, partnerships, social channels, strange corners of the internet, or simply how to get the right ten people into the same room.

    Dunbarrios does not need an audience for its own sake. It does need people who know how to help the right people notice that something exists.

    Requirements

    • instinct for signal over spam
    • no appetite for follower-count theater
    • curiosity about communities that recur rather than audiences that accumulate
    • willingness to broadcast selectively in service of eventually broadcasting less

    Billionaire, or reasonably adjacent high-net-worth human

    “Well. This got oddly specific.”

    You may be the first person willing to test the stewardship proposition at meaningful scale.

    Not buy the project.

    Not own a community.

    Not acquire gratitude.

    Test whether substantial support can increase a group’s carrying capacity without purchasing control.

    • comfort being disagreed with
    • willingness to stand inside rather than above
    • interest in testing support without ownership
    • perhaps an unusually patient accountant

    Expert with opinions

    “We would particularly like to hear the objection we have not thought of yet.”

    Tax. Trusts. Philanthropy. Governance. Employment. Securities. Privacy. Community law. Behavioral science. Cooperative structures.

    And, preferably, things we do not yet know we should be worried about.

    We especially appreciate experts capable of saying:

    “That sounds interesting, but have you considered this catastrophic edge case?”

    Requirements

    • actual expertise
    • skepticism without reflexive cynicism
    • willingness to look at an unfinished model
    • ability to distinguish “illegal,” “inadvisable,” and “merely weird”

    Does your wiener dog own a bow tie?

    A tiny raincoat?

    A Halloween costume with structural ambitions?

    Dunbarrios has already accepted that some forms of collective organization cannot be stopped.
